It sounds like the same thing that happened to my Night 3, in which case, he probably didn't get any info on it.
Incidentally, I got the following PM: "You spent your night trying to find Nanook and his place on the record boards, but were unable to. You know your power was working, but something about Nanook prevented you from using it."

Ugh... so Hoopy was trying to get himself night-killed, basically.
Next time remind me to go with my own instincts.
Oh well, at least we have one vig down. On the other hand, the vig's been more use to us than the town so far. And I'm guessing we have a serial killer out there as well. Anyone want to bet against it being KidV? I can think of a few suspects, but he's up there...

and Hoopy is still alive. He lost his protection though. If he is targeted again he will die. That's my guess anyways. Or we just gave him a shedload of investigative power by night-killing him, which is obviously what he was aiming for all along. AGH! He's a suicide vig/cop. We just armed him. Or does anybody think there's the remotest possibility that I'm wrong here? Because I don't.

Post by molefan1981 on Feb 14, 2009 21:32:28 GMT -5
OK, first off I'm going to lay very, very low. The last game I played with a suicide cop, the cop could see who tried to kill him. If that's the case here, I could well be toast. If that's the case, I don't want to give you guys away.
Secondly, in every game I've played with a suicide cop or vig, their power is a daykill or daytime investigation one. In other words, unless we can get Hoopy lynched - which is extremely unlikely now - he's going to have time to either kill or investigate someone. I don't think we can stop that, but we can at least try and direct his target away from us.

OK I have a really really really really dumb idea. Don't suppose anybody fancies claiming Solid Snake, with role PM and all? It'd mean being killed in two nights, but it would probably get the real Solid Snake lynched.
And now that Pollux has posted, I definitely think I should claim protector, and hope that nobody thinks me worth investigating. I can "clear" the Godfather by investigating him if you think it's worth it. Hell, I can ask the town if it's worth outing a town-oriented player, and only doing it if they agree.
What do you think?

Post by molefan1981 on Feb 14, 2009 23:10:10 GMT -5
Captain Olimar (Town Minor Doc / Minor Cop / *******)
You were on a distant planet, excavating treasure. You were ready to head home, to finally relax after so much time treasure hunting. Unfortunately, that didn't happen. You were abducted by giant creatures, the smallest of which is about four times your size. None of them understand your language and none of them will take you back. But then things started looking up. Your trained Pikmin have made you a star among the smashers and a hot contender for the greatest treasure of all - the smasher cup. You'll do whatever you can to make sure nobody spoils things.
Every day and night, you will pick a Pikmin. This Pikmin will be red, yellow, blue, purple or white. You may only have six pikmin in play at any time. Note that when you pick your Pikmin for the night, it will be available for your orders that night. Each night, you can also command any number of Pikmin to take an action. The actions are: --Investigation. Sending one Pikmin will get a character name. Two will tell you who targeted that player and who they targeted. Three will get a character name and target information. Four will get the alignment of the player (SCUM, Town, or third-party). Five will get the alignment and character name. Sending all six Pikmin will get their alignment, character name, who they targeted and who targeted them. White Pikmin count as two for this task. All Pikmin sent will die. --Hiding. You can send up to four Pikmin to dig a crevice for hiding yourself or any other smasher from nightkills. 1 Pikmin creates a 25% chance, 2 create a 50% chance, etc. However, because this would have them work well into the night, all but one will get eaten. Purple Pikmin count as 2 for this task. --Finding. ***********
** Parts omitted because they'd only help the scum.
My night actions:
I received one red and one blue Pikmin on Day 1 and Night 1 respectively. Sent the red and blue Pikmin to protect Roxis. Only the red Pikmin returned.
I received one red and one purple Pikmin Day 2 and Night 2 respectively. Sent one red and one purple Pikmin to protect Hoopy. Once again the red Pikmin returned, leaving me with two red Pikmin.
I received one yellow and one white Pikmin on Day 3 and Night 3. Sent three Pikmin - white, red and yellow - to investigate Peekerpca. This produced his alignment, town. I now have one red pikmin.
Note: I don't get to "pick" the Pikmin, as in choose which one I receive. I get randomly assigned one at the beginning of each day and night.
OK PLEASE CRITIQUE THIS, if I'm going to use it later on I want to be ready.
Alexander, there is no freaking way I'm bussing the practically unsuspected Godfather scum unless two separate townies have both watched you sneak into TDPats' room last night, stick a knife in his back and kick his puppy on the way out. And even then I'd try and convince them that both TD and the puppy were evil.

Okn gals/guys time to buck up, so to speak.
I thought being GF would be like running a departmental meeting. I set the agenda, I control the discussion, I get snacks when I want and bathroom breaks are based on MY bladder.
Never would I have thunk it.
It's a real life lesson.
Chasing down the ferral cats and trying to shove shaving cream up their collective asses is so much more invigorating.
Thanks.

Post by crazypunker22 on Feb 15, 2009 16:18:34 GMT -5
In rereading Day 3 looking for a vote target I noticed that Peeker didn't really post much of anything.
I saw a lot of posts about color, a lot of fluff, and one vote post without much reasoning at all.
There was nothing to stimulate discussion and nothing particularly helpful to town.
(obviously we don't want to help town, but we want to seem to help them.)
I didn't want to post it in the main thread because I think it would start a bandwagon, but we might want to be a little more careful. If I was town right now I would be voting Peeker.

Post by kat on Feb 15, 2009 20:33:00 GMT -5
Here's what I'm thinking: To post in the game thread: ----- I’ve been waffling back and forth on saying anything about this, since I don’t want to roleclaim yet, but I decided that I need to get at least this much information out to you guys. I got the following PM regarding my Night 3 Action: “You spent your night trying to find ***** and his place on the record boards, but were unable to. You know your power was working, but something about ***** prevented you from using it." I don’t know if the person I targeted was protected by someone else, or if it is his/her own ability, or if this is someone related to what happened with paul and Parzival. I am posting it in case it is somehow the third option, but I’ll reveal who it is if people want to discuss the possibility that it’s one of the first two. I will roleclaim if it need be, but I’d rather not yet. ----- Role PM version 1: Dark Samus (Town Janitor) On planet Aether, you had only one goal. Kill the one who was your impostor. It was the only thing that gave you any reason to exist. You cornered Samus Aran as Dark Aether was exploding, and was ready to kill her. Unfortunately, your plans went wildly off course. It's probably a good thing she and you were sucked into this gladiatorial combat sport, considering how the battle was going, though. Once here you couldn't make overt attacks without being restrained, and Master Hand was careful never to pair you and Samus up. You probably would have gone on a killing spree had ***** not taught you humanity and given you a steady supply of phazon. Using a bit of excess phazon, you have some influence in the form of the announcer. Each day, you can try to influence him to switch two of the player announcements. That way, anyone looking for the first player will find the second, and vice versa. --Every night, you attempt to switch 2 players. This switch has a ***** success rate. Anyone using an action on player X will hit player Y, and vice versa, unless they would hit themselves. In such an event, the action would go through successfully. Night 1: I tried to switch aubby and molefan, but the switch did not succeed. Night 2: Nothing happened to either of the choices, but I’ll list them if necessary Night 3: I chose Nanook and *****, and got the following response: “You spent your night trying to find Nanook and his place on the record boards, but were unable to. You know your power was working, but something about Nanook prevented you from using it.” Right now, I’m thinking that ***** in the role color will be Captain Falcon, as per Batman’s suggestion. If pressed for Night 2, I’m considering claiming targets of shaggy and aubby or peeker and brokentree. If pressed for Night 3’s second choice, I’m inclined towards shaggy again. Role PM version 2: Dark Samus (Town Janitor) On planet Aether, you had only one goal. 1. Every night, you attempt may switch 2 players. This switch has a ***** success rate. Anyone using an action on player X will hit player Y, and vice versa, unless they would hit themselves. In such an event, the action would go through successfully. 2. If you choose not to perform a switch twice in a row, the excess phazon may cause you to develop Phazon Madness. (rest of #2 snipped) Night 1: I tried to switch aubby and molefan, but the switch did not succeed. Night 2: I did not target anyone. Night 3: I chose Nanook and *****, and got the following response: “You spent your night trying to find Nanook and his place on the record boards, but were unable to. You know your power was working, but something about Nanook prevented you from using it.” Rest of #2: 2. If you choose not to perform a switch twice in a row, the excess phazon may cause you to develop Phazon Madness. ?? Possibly someone that I voted for has a ___% chance of dying? And after ___ Nights of inactivity, I die?
