Buwh? I subbed out Koldanar for Natlaw at Koldy's request. I got Koldanar mixed up with Nanook. They are essentially the same person in my mind.

Hi everyone! Great game Ped...except the part about me being lynched on Day 1!

Yeah, sorry, Mitey. So far so blah. =P As usual, I find myself needing to make a sealed envelope at the end of Day One because I guessed three (not counting Ed) scum right purely on gut feeling.

Anyway, anyone who thinks about it KNOWS we have a Vig now that is not me--or that scum is really, really dumb. (obviously I know it's the former) I wonder how that'll affect gameplay when someone blurts it out?

Not a bad guess on my part.

I am rather befuddled by shaggy's strategy of "Which ones don't feel particularly bad about mislynching?" It's something I've never really considered before.

No worries Zer. It's actually funny that what I accused you of (watching ED and I duke it out) was exactly what Ed did...hehehe! It makes sense now though, he sided with you because I was suspecting him in the faux votes on our board... I actually find (now that I know who they are that they are kind of obvious now...especially looking at the drink thing in Night 1. Let me just say right now...poor Shaggy! He gets so frustrated with other players bringing up our personal relationship (we are married for those that don't know) and yet it happens every game we play together here.

That is actually something he looks at a lot. The first game he read (just before he played) on FB had a person who actually got excited in the main thread when the investigator (me) died on Day 2. She didn't get lynched that Day and he was terribly confused as to why as it was obvious to him that she was not upset that a main power role died. That has stuck with him.

Speaking of distractions...ED is killing me! As an outside observer, it is funny but, I'd be wanting to kill him if I was still alive.

all that hard work. Down the drain. You did take out my slip too, didn't you? That's good. I'm not sure how noticed it was. Not that anyone would find it in there. I also hope you appreciated my homage to the letter h.
I was so against showing the mason board. I figured I was way to transparent.
But, wow, that was fun. I hope not too many people were offended. Just imagine if it was summer and I could post all day :-)

Ed mentioned Zelda in one of his posts. Since Nanook also mentioned Zelda, Natlaw correctly deduced that Nanook is Sheik, and told Ed--along with the other scum--about Zelda.

Aloha, I haven't read anything but the princess peach thing. I would just like to say two things:
I do not like the idea of bringing the fluff of the night bar into the game. This will definitely put a damper on future night discussions which are already slow, IMHO.
I'm sorry if I offended shaggy/mitey, but I did not bring up their relationship to begin with. And if shaggy had come up with any sort of reasonable reason why he was positive mitey wasn't scum and hadn't berated all of town who voted for her on night one I would not have posted what I did. Give me reason not emotion TYVM.

And I've just read some of the scum boards and find that peeks is scum and he first brought up the idea of the mitey/shaggy connection thus throwing the chum into the pond. I'm sorry I bit, but there it is.
On another note I would still like to know who killed me. Pedescribe sent me a message that I was killed because I drank in the night thread. However I was petrified as a result of that not killed. What gives? Going back to my previous avatar.

Ok, just found the post where I got bussed. FTR I will never post fluff in a night thread again, thanks Pede. This will make the game way more enjoyable.

:shrugs: It was an experiment. I probably won't do it again, considering the reception. Actually, it would be interesting to make a role that rewarded fluff...in a way that didn't involve killing...hmm...
Anyway, I'm going to say that this game depends on two people: Natlaw and Hal. Right now, scum have a sizeable advantage, given Nanook's ninjakill, molefan's extra kill, and crazypunker's 'cure' (if he actually uses it, that is), and it would take a big shakeup to knock them down. Right now--aside from perhaps Hoopy Frood and KidV--Natlaw is the best townsperson alive at sniffing out scum, and he's already got a bead on Nanook, and given that last post, probably peekercpa. If he decides to attack Nanook as planned--essentially suiciding--the town's going to have a much tougher time finding SCUM. Hal, though he isn't actively searching out the SCUM, has already attempted to kill Kat twice, and found out that he needs to kill peeker. If he kills peeker and Kat (the two most 'normal' SCUM, BTW, as all the others can't reliably nightkill or came with an expiration tag), that would be a huge blow to the scum, no matter what else he does.
So unless Natlaw sticks around for at least a few more days, or Hal decides to kill Kat night 4, I'm going to say that the SCUM will win this one. If one or both of those happens, it's up in the air again.

Based on the fact that you are on the verge of calling the game for scum on day 3 and town has thus far mislynched only once could I have a recap on the game balance?
And to back off on the nasty. I guess my question is; have the games become so random that rational play does not matter at all anymore? If so what's the point of playing? We should all just lurk, vote random.org and hope for the best.

It's not just one mislynch. Actually, the majority of it the players; mainly, that all the analytical powerhouses are dead or non-town (or both, in the case of sachertorte). I dunno. Maybe I'm underestimating chucara, Atarus Oil del Fuego, misterblockey, and the like. But given that: -The vig has messed up twice already -shaggy is likely to be mislynched/misvigged -Parzival and Hal have no incentive to help the town -brokentree is likely to spread a cloud of confusion at some point I don't think the game is unbalanced. I mean, if the town screwed up a lot the first few days but still had a good chance of winning, then the game would be unbalanced.
Honestly, though, if you accept the premise that some players are better than others, then the lie of a RNG will affect the game somewhat, especially if the distribution of the more experienced players is slanted to one side or the other. It's not something I think should be fretted about though...I mean, I don't think that it's a significant issue overall.

I disagree that the zeriel vig was a mistake, it saved us from a second mislynch on day 2. Town always screws up in the first few days because they have no information. You trade bodies for information in the early days. If the game can be won/lost due to one mislynch and one bad vig in the first 2 day/night cycles.....
